Christopher Nolan fans in India have begun their countdown in the most premium way possible. Advance booking for The Odyssey opened in the country at 10:00 am on June 8, 2026, more than a month before the film’s theatrical release, and the first IMAX pricing snapshot has already turned into a major talking point among moviegoers.
Universal Pictures has so far opened plans for limited IMAX shows across select cities, with most properties listing one morning show and one evening or night show. The early trend is striking because prices are not uniformly sky high across India. While Pune has emerged as the costliest city for the Nolan spectacle, Delhi has thrown up the most affordable IMAX entry point.
Pune Tops Imax Pricing As Delhi Offers Budget Seats
In Pune, The Odyssey IMAX tickets have touched Rs 3000. Cinepolis Aundh and Inox Megaplex have priced their morning shows at Rs 1400, Rs 1500 and Rs 2600, while the evening shows at these cinemas go up to Rs 1600, Rs 1700 and Rs 3000.
Delhi, meanwhile, has offered the sharpest contrast. Inox Paras has listed tickets for the 9:15 am show at Rs 370, Rs 390, Rs 410 and Rs 490. Its evening show at 7:45 pm is priced at Rs 520, Rs 570, Rs 620 and Rs 650, making it one of the most accessible IMAX options currently visible for the film in India.
Mumbai’s pricing sits across a broad spectrum. Inox Malad has kept morning show rates between Rs 450 and Rs 520, while its evening show ranges from Rs 700 to Rs 800. PVR Lower Parel has gone higher, with tickets priced up to Rs 1400. Cinepolis Seawoods is among the premium outliers in the city, with evening show tickets reaching Rs 2000.
In other centres, Cinepolis Nexus Bengaluru has listed tickets between Rs 900 and Rs 1000, Cinepolis Kochi ranges from Rs 750 to Rs 950, Broadway in Coimbatore has a flat rate of Rs 508.34, and Inox South City Kolkata starts at Rs 470 for the morning show.
What The Odyssey Brings To Cinemas
The Odyssey is written and directed by Christopher Nolan, who also produces the film with Emma Thomas through Syncopy. Universal Pictures will distribute the epic action fantasy, which is scheduled to release theatrically on July 17, 2026, including in IMAX.
The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal. Based on Homer’s ancient epic, the story follows Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War, as he encounters mythical forces while trying to reunite with Penelope.
With several IMAX properties still to open bookings and dynamic pricing able to move as demand builds, India’s Nolan frenzy has clearly started early.
