Vijay’s Leo has successfully crossed the Rs 600 crore mark at the worldwide box office in 25 days. Trade tracker Sacnilk has claimed that the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial scaled the rare feat on Monday. Despite competition from festival releases like Jigarthanda Doubled and Japan, Leo has managed to mint moolah from theatres across the country. Now, it has also become the third Tamil film to cross the Rs 600 crore mark worldwide.
Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Jailer are the other two movies which have managed to cross the milestone. Vijay has become the second hero to achieve it in Tamil cinema. However, it is said that Leo will not be able to break Jailer’s lifetime record of Rs 650 crore (approx). With Leo in the last phase of its theatrical run, it looks like raking in more numbers is unlikely.
However, it is an incredible feat for Vijay, who is emerging as the next numero uno in Tamil cinema. Lately, there have been a lot of debates about who is the next superstar of Tamil cinema. Fight over this topic is still ongoing on social media between Vijay and Rajinikanth fans. Despite Vijay claiming that Rajinikanth is the only superstar in Tamil, the Leo star’s fans continue to fight for the top place for their idol.
On the other hand, at the Leo success meet, Vijay took up Thalapathy as his moniker. Vijay claimed he was like the foot soldier of the people and would be at their service. Vijay recently returned to Chennai from Thailand after wrapping up a schedule of Thalapathy 68, directed by Venkat Prabhu.

Leo Surpasses $23 Million In Overseas After 4th Weekend
The way the film started on Thursday, it was expected to cruise past USD 23 million in 25 days. However, there was a bit of a slowdown on Friday and then Saturday didn’t make the required gain in some of the markets, so it won’t pull that off but nevertheless set to surpass the previous four-day number.
Leo has broken or will be breaking opening records for Tamil films everywhere barring the United States. That said, the film has performed best in Europe, which is a stronghold for Vijay as even his weakest performers are among the top grossers and this film is certainly not a weak one.
Leo added USD 1.80 million to its international total in the second weekend, which now boasts USD 22 million (Rs. 183 crore). Leo is now the second highest-grossing Kollywood film internationally, placed between two Rajinikanth films Jailer (USD 23.80 million) and 2.0 (USD 21.80 million). The film is likely to fall a bit short of Jailer unless there is exceptional trending in coming days.
