Weekend watchlist: Check out these new OTT releases to binge this weekend!

This week's top five OTT releases include Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Vikrant Rona, Cuttputlli, My Dear Bootham, and Sundari Gardens.

OTT is thriving in India because Indians have embraced it like fish to water. It has had such a significant impact on the audience for movies that theatrical releases are quickly losing their appeal. With the advent of OTT services, consumers can now view movies whenever they want to without having to wait for them to be broadcast at specific times with commercial breaks.

To keep their audiences interested, OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Voot, Disney+ Hotstar, and Sony Liv make sure to provide new material every week. Additionally, this week’s top five OTT releases include Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Vikrant Rona, Cuttputlli, and more.

Lord Of The Rings:

The Peter Jackson movie made the cult classic Lord of the Rings even more popular. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, a new television series created by Amazon that takes place before the main book’s and the films’ events, has now been released. It has been praised as a groundbreaking accomplishment in TV history and has garnered raving accolades from reviewers. The only thing left to do is wait and see how the audience reacts to it in the face of intense competition from the on-going House of the Dragon prequel to Game of Thrones.

Vikrant Rona:

Anup Bhandari’s Kannada-language film Vikrant Rona, which also stars Nirup Bhandari, Neetha Ashok, and Jacqueline Fernandez, has Kichcha Sudeep in the lead role. The main character travels to a village where people are inexplicably going missing and everyone is blaming the paranormal.

Cuttputlli:

This year sees the direct-to-OTT release of another movie with Akshay Kumar playing the protagonist. The movie, directed by Ranjit Tewari and starring Chandrachur Singh, Gurpreet Ghuggi, and Rakul Preet Singh, is a remake of the Tamil film Ratsasan. It centres on a murderer who targets schoolgirls, and the police detective played by Akshay Kumar is on the hunt for the perpetrator.
