Swatantra Veer Savarkar’s biopic will not only feature Randeep Hooda as lead actor but he will direct it too. Earlier, Mahesh Manjrekar was decided as director; However, he has reportedly made an exit from it. Its shooting is planned to commence in Maharashtra next week. Though latest update is that someone else might pitch in to direct.
“This is a salute to one of the tallest unsung heroes of India’s struggle for freedom and self-actualisation. I hope I can live up to the challenge of filling such big shoes of a true revolutionary and tell his real story which had been brushed under the carpet for so long,” Hooda had stated. Its first look poster was released on May 28, the 139th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter.
Hooda has lost 25 Kgs to work on this biopic, who will act as Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Produced under the banner of Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Legend Studios, the release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Earlier, R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut were taken into consideration but they opted out. Talking about R Madhavan directed ‘Rocketry’, it was earlier directed by Anant Mahadevan. Kangana directed Manikarnika, with Krish as co-director.
Krish had alleged differences with her, who refuted Kangana’s claim of directing 70% of the movie. These show how actors took over as directors when the decided directors made an exit. Whether Randeep will do the same what R Madhavan and Kangana did? Time will tell what lies ahead in the biopic.
