Armie Hammer has dropped out of an upcoming film with Jennifer Lopez following the alleged messages sent by the actor were leaked online.
Calling the messages and social media response an online attack, Hammer has released a statement reacting to these accusations. The actor revealed that he is no longer a part of the Jennifer Lopez starrer Shotgun Wedding.
A production spokesperson was quoted as saying: “Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”
On Wednesday, January 13, Armie Hammer broke his silence about the ongoing social media scandal. After explicit and disturbing messages alleged to have been sent by him were circulated online.
In his statement published by an international media, he said, “I’m not responding to these bullsh*t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.”
The Social Network actor concluded his statement saying, “Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”
Meanwhile, Shotgun Wedding will be directed by Pitch Perfect filmmaker Jason Moore. The film is about a couple who get cold feet before they are due to walk down the aisle. Things are complicated further when the wedding party is hijacked by criminals.
