Kriti Sanon is making headlines in Bollywood with her recent comments. Not only is she shining in her roles, but she’s also speaking up about the state of the industry. In a recent interview, she took on entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath’s claim that Hindi cinema is losing its touch.
Kamath, on his podcast, criticised Bollywood for its recent lack of success and diminishing job opportunities. He painted a picture of a once-thriving industry now grappling with challenges. Kriti, however, wasn’t having any of it. She fiercely defended Bollywood, pointing out how the expectations of audiences have evolved.
Kriti Sanon REACTS To Nikhil Kamath’s Claims Of Bollywood Not Thriving
Kriti Sanon highlighted that the bar for success has been raised. “Earlier, if a film earned Rs 100 crore, it would be a big deal. Now, Rs 100 crore is nothing,” she explained. This shift, she believes, reflects a changing landscape where Bollywood is bouncing back stronger than ever. “There was a phase when it (Bollywood) was not (thriving), but now theatres are back and how.”
Adding his voice to the discussion was rapper-singer Badshah, who also appeared on the podcast. He echoed Kriti’s sentiment, noting that the industry has learned from its past hardships and is now showing signs of rejuvenation.
Her Work Front
Kriti’s career has been nothing short of impressive. She stepped into the limelight with her debut film Nennokadine in 2014, alongside Mahesh Babu.
Her Bollywood entry came with Heropanti, opposite Tiger Shroff. Since then, she has starred in a string of successful films including Dilwale, Raabta, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, and Mimi. More recently, she’s appeared in Bhediya, Shehzada, Adipurush, and Ganapath. Her latest releases, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew, have both enjoyed commercial success.
Looking ahead, Kriti is set to star in Do Patti, a mystery crime-thriller directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi. The film, which also features Kajol, Shaheer Sheikh, and Tanvi Azmi, promises to be a significant project.
The script is penned by Kanika Dhillon. Notably, Do Patti marks the debut production of Kriti’s and Kanika’s new banners—Blue Butterfly Films and Kathha Pictures. While the release date is yet to be confirmed, the film will soon be available for streaming on Netflix.
