As Band Baaja Baaraat marks its 14th anniversary, Ranveer Singh reaches his 15th year in the entertainment industry. He made his Bollywood debut in 2010 with the film, playing Bittoo Sharma, a lively Delhi boy.
Since then, Ranveer has built a career playing similar characters, often capturing the essence of the ‘Delhi ka munda’. His latest role as Rocky Randhawa in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is another example of this portrayal, blending romance and comedy.

Ranveer’s big break came with Band Baaja Baaraat, directed by Maneesh Sharma. His portrayal of Bittoo Sharma, a young man with dreams of starting his own wedding planning business, was well-received by both critics and audiences.
This debut established Ranveer as an actor capable of handling both comedy and drama. He also shared that he worked on his accent by watching films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! to perfect the role. This film was an average performer at the box office.
Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do & KJo’s RARKPK
In 2015, he appeared in Dil Dhadakne Do, directed by Zoya Akhtar. In this film, Ranveer played Kabir Mehra, a young man dealing with family expectations while trying to pursue his own desires.
His performance in this complex role earned him positive reviews. One of the film’s memorable moments was his delivery of the line “Voh butter knife hai,” which showcased his talent for making lines stand out.
In 2023, Ranveer returned to his Delhi-based character in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar. This time, he played Rocky Randhawa, a man balancing traditional family values with modern love. His performance in this film reminded many of his earlier role in Band Baaja Baaraat.
Becoming The Bollywood’s New Don
Looking forward, Ranveer has several upcoming projects, including Aditya Dhar’s untitled film and Don 3, where he steps into a role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. He was reported to play the popular small-screen superhero ‘Shaktimaan’ in a film.
