12th Fail actor Vikrant Massey recently made headlines by announcing his plans to take a break from acting. The big question now is whether he will shoot his part for Don 3, where he is expected to play the antagonist alongside Ranveer Singh, before or after his sabbatical.
Reason Behind Vikrant Massey’s Acting Break
Bollywood Hungama reported that a close friend of Vikrant shared some insights into the actor’s decision. “It is certainly not boredom, what has he got to be bored about? His career has just taken off,” the friend said.
Vikrant had previously expressed frustration with being cast in supporting roles or male leads in female-centric films, but his role in 12th Fail seems to have marked a turning point in his career.
So, what’s the real reason behind this break? The friend revealed that Vikrant has been dealing with health issues. “Nothing serious. But nothing he can ignore either. The doctors have advised him to take some time off from his acting assignments. He will be away (from acting) for a year, or maybe a little more. That’s it,” the friend explained.
This news has drawn comparisons to Shah Rukh Khan, who took a long break after Zero in 2018 and returned with Pathaan in 2023. Like SRK, Vikrant may retract his statements, but for now, he has made it clear that he will be seen for the last time in 2025 before taking his break.
A Female Co-Star Criticises The Actor Posting Break Announcement On Social Media
However, not everyone agrees with the way Vikrant made his announcement. A female co-star commented, “Where was the need to make such an announcement? We all take a break, a pause now and then. It doesn’t mean we need to go on social media to shout out a goodbye for the world to sing, ‘Nahin nahin jaana nahin abhi nahin kabhi nahin.’ Of course, we need to be told we are loved.”
Vikrant’s cryptic social media post about his break led to confusion, with many fans and co-stars thinking he might be retiring. He later clarified that it was just a break, not an exit from acting.
Despite mixed reactions, his decision to step away has sparked much discussion. Now, it’s uncertain whether he will join Ranveer Singh in Don 3 or if the film will proceed without him.
