Aaishvary Thackeray Started As Assistant Director For SLB’s Bajirao Mastani

Aaishvary, son of Smita Thackeray and Jaidev Thackeray, is making his way into the film industry after years of behind-the-scenes experience.

His journey in the industry began in 2015 when he worked as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s blockbuster Bajirao Mastani. This experience laid the groundwork for his acting debut, which has now been realised with Kashyap at the helm.

Anurag Kashyap’s Career

Talking about Anurag Kashyap, the director is known for his bold, unconventional filmmaking, and has had a storied career. He initially started his journey in the television industry before finding his voice as a co-writer for the 1998 crime drama Satya, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. His directorial debut came with Paanch, though it was never released theatrically due to censorship issues.

However, Kashyap’s big break came with Black Friday, a film based on the 1993 Bombay bombings, which was released in 2007 after a two-year delay due to pending court cases. The film, along with his later works such as No Smoking, Dev.D, Gulaal, and That Girl in Yellow Boots, cemented his reputation as a director who pushes boundaries.

Kashyap’s acclaim rose further with the epic crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur, which became a landmark in Indian cinema. He also co-produced The Lunchbox, a film that garnered international recognition and directed another dark thriller Ugly

His venture into the digital space with the highly successful Sacred Games, based on Vikram Chandra’s novel, earned him even more praise. More recently, he directed the romantic drama Manmarziyaan.
