Aamir Khan Calls It A Big Responsibility

The actor explained that Indians are so strongly connected to this epic that it runs in their blood. He added that there is no Indian who has not read the Bhagavad Gita or at least heard it from their grandmother.
Aamir emphasized that making a film which is so fundamental for all Indians comes with immense responsibility. He said that you can let Mahabharata down, but Mahabharata will never let you down. If you do a bad job, you will let it down. The actor wants to make sure that if he ever makes this film, all Indians feel really proud.
The Actor Compares Epic To Hollywood Franchises
Aamir Khan also spoke about the global potential of Mahabharata. He compared it to some of the biggest Hollywood franchises like Lord of the Rings and Avatar. According to him, while the world has seen all these big entertainers, Mahabharata is the mother of them all.
The actor believes that Indians will be really proud if this epic comes out well on the world stage. He admitted that he is taking his time because he wants to make sure he gets everything right.
Is This Aamir Khan’s Last Film?
Several reports have suggested that Mahabharata could be Aamir Khan’s final film. In mid 2025, the actor hinted at this possibility, saying that maybe after doing this project, he might feel there is nothing left to do. However, he later clarified that the epic is not going to be his last film.
Aamir explained that people often misconstrue his statements. He was asked a hypothetical question about which film he would make if he had to happily hang his boots after it. The actor stressed that the word "if" in that question is very important.
