Aamir Khan Unfazed by Trolls: “I Just Smile and Move Forward”
Aamir Khan, the Bollywood superstar known for his serene disposition and thoughtful ideas, has taken a shot at the continued trolling he has received throughout the years. Speaking to a group on the eve of his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir respectfully yet humorously rebuffed the hate-mongering voices that urged, “Go to Pakistan!”
“I don’t think trolling impacts me,” Aamir said. “Of course it hurts because we labour so much, and someone spreads hate without even watching the film. But, that’s what trolling is, right? It has nothing to do with the film it is prejudice, prejudice for prejudice sake.”
Aamir openly stated,
“People are blaming trolls for the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. That’s incorrect. The film simply didn’t connect. It didn’t reach people’s hearts. But trolling? It doesn’t rattle me. I just smile and move forward.”
He was clear about how he quickly detects trolling online:
“Someone replies, ‘Boycott! Boycott!’ or ‘Go to Pakistan!’ – I know it’s trolling. It has not affect on me. I affect if the audience like the film.”

Ahead of the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, Aamir repeated the message that a good movie will find its audience, despite the negativity.
“In the final analysis, the audience will decide. The hashtags wont,” he said.
He reiterated his belief that good, honest filmmaking is bigger than online negativity, adding that he simply wanted to make ‘stories’.
Aamir Khan Rejects Rs 125 Crore OTT Offer: “I believe in theatres, not numbers.”
During the same interview, Aamir revealed that he declined OTT offers worth more than ₹125 crore, which included a supposed offer from Netflix. He reiterated that Sitaare Zameen Par is a theatrical-first experience.
“I received a lot of OTT offers, but I said no to everyone,” Aamir said. “I may be a fool for saying no to such deals. But I’m a loyalist. Cinema has made me who I am. I believe in theatres.”
He commented on how most producers today arrange OTT deals before producing the film, yet he took a different view, saying:
“I am trying to make the theatrical experience better. Even if I lose money, I will do it. I have faith in the audience.”
Aamir Khan is making an interesting move as the theatrical business wrestles to return to its pre-pandemic business levels. His decision reflects a significant commitment to cinema — for a film to succeed, it must succeed cinematically.

Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is not directed as a sequel but a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s 2007 cult classic Taare Zameen Par in his directorial debut.
