Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt, who have been collaborating in Bollywood for many years, are preparing to renew their partnership on screen after almost twenty years. They are known for their intense and fashionable films, and their last project together was nearly two decades ago.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting news of their next joint project, and the latest reports indicate that their highly anticipated project is finally coming to fruition.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Sanjay Gupta confirmed the ongoing plans for their upcoming film. “We are still planning a film together! As a matter of fact, his manager just came to meet me. We have worked out the script and now, we are working out the logistics,” Gupta revealed.
Reflecting on their longstanding relationship, Gupta reminisced about their initial encounters on film sets many years ago. “It must have been 35-40 years ago. I was an assistant director, and I met him for the first time on location. Later, we shot for a film called Thanedaar (1990) in Kodaikanal. It was during this outdoor schedule that we hit it off and became friends,” Gupta shared.
About Their Past Collaboration & Friendship
Their collaboration dates back to Sanjay Dutt’s appearance in Gupta’s directorial debut, Aatish (1994), marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership. Over the years, they collaborated on several successful projects including Khauff (2000), Jung (2000), Kaante (2002), Musafir (2004), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007), and the unfinished film, Alibaug. Additionally, Dutt starred in Gupta’s productions such as Plan (2004) and Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007), making their tally of joint ventures a remarkable nine films.
In 2022, Sanjay Dutt spoke candidly about their relationship in an interview with Bombay Times. He stated, “In many ways, we grew up together, holding each other’s hands. I know Gups well and I know what he wants from me. In between, I lost my way. I wasn’t taking care of myself and didn’t want to work with him when I wasn’t at my best. The reason I hit the gym is because I started preparing myself to work with him again. I am getting back to my home turf very soon.”
For the unversed, Sanjay Dutt recently made headlines for leaving Welcome To The Jungle. While the exact reasons are not known, it is said that the actor decided to quit the project due to irregular and unplanned shoots & execution.
