Netflix and famous filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey have teamed up once again to bring audiences a unique drama blended with some dark comedy. Soup stars Konkona Sensharma and Manoj Bajpayee, both critically acclaimed performers. In a first-look, behind-the-scenes film, Abhishek Chaubey, one of the principal performers, showrunner, and director can be seen cooking up a storm. Macguffin Pictures is the studio behind the dark-comedy criminal series.
Soup is mostly based on a true story of Swathi Shetty (Konkona Sensharma), an inept cook who dreams of opening her own restaurant someday, and her suspicious husband, Prabhakar (Manoj Bajpayee), who refuses to help her and has his own suspicions. Soon after, fate provides her with an opportunity, and she begins to devise a grand plan. However, the broth is ruined by whimsical characters and amateur villains, and things do not go as planned.
Abhishek Chaubey, who returns to Netflix after Raat Akeli Hai and Ray said, “Working with Netflix for Soup has been really exciting and I’m thrilled to share our story with audiences all across the world. We’ve had a wonderful experience shooting Manoj, Konkona and the entire cast and crew of Soup, can’t wait to showcase this motley bunch of idiosyncratic characters.”
