Mohanlal’s action thriller L2: Empuraan is creating a storm at the box office even before its release. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film has already set new records with massive pre-sales. It is gearing up for one of the biggest openings in Malayalam cinema history.
Advance bookings are soaring with just a week left for release. The film has made history in international markets by collecting record-breaking figures. Reports suggest that L2: Empuraan has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film overseas in terms of pre-sales.
L2: Empuraan Advance Bookings Break Records In Malayalam Cinema
Prithviraj Sukumaran shared the booking details on social media. He wrote, “All India bookings open now!!! Grab your tickets to watch the spectacle unfold in theatres across the world from 27.”
Advance booking for L2: Empuraan opened at 9 AM on March 21 in India. By 10:30 am, ticket sales had already hit 96,000 per hour, setting a record for an Indian film before release.
So far, most bookings are from Kerala, but with wider openings, it could soon cross the 100K per hour mark. This is a historic moment for Malayalam cinema. Trade analysts expect the numbers to rise sharply before release.
Malayalam cinema has seen many hits, but L2: Empuraan is on another level. The film’s scale, star power, and the success of its predecessor Lucifer (2019) have built massive hype. Lucifer gained a huge following through its dubbed versions, and now Empuraan is set to attract audiences across India.
Mohanlal Calls The Film ‘Magical’
At the IMAX trailer launch, Mohanlal spoke about his excitement for the film. “I don’t know what more to say about this film. Empuraan is not just a movie; it is our blood and sweat. The film will speak to you. Thank you, Prithviraj, for making the dream of a grand film like Empuraan a reality.”
The trailer, which was recently released, showcases intense action, a gripping story, and breathtaking visuals. The excitement has only grown with the addition of Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn, who plays a crucial role in the film.
L2: Empuraan will be released in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, reaching a wider audience than ever before.
The film stars Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, and Sachin Khedekar. Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies have produced the film.
