Following the historic success of “Gadar 2“, Bollywood veteran Sunny Deol is reportedly in talks with several renowned directors for his upcoming projects. The actor, who delivered a mammoth blockbuster at the age of 65, is being extremely cautious about the projects he is signing on for next.
Collaboration with Rajkumar Santoshi and Aamir Khan
As per media reports, Sunny Deol is in the advanced stages of discussion for a feature film with Rajkumar Santoshi, with whom he has previously worked on “Ghayal”, “Ghatak”, and “Damini” among others. The yet-untitled film is expected to be produced by Aamir Khan under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. This film is the front runner for being the first Sunny Deol film to go on floors after the historic success of “Gadar 2“.
Talks with Abbas Mustan for Action Thriller
As per the reports, Sunny Deol has also had a meeting with Abbas Mustan regarding an action thriller. He has heard an idea but is yet to get a full narration of the script from the senior director duo, known for classics like “Baazigar”, “Soldier”, “Khiladi”, and “Race” franchise among others.
Discussions with JP Dutta
Things are moving in the right direction for the JP Dutta franchise, “Border” as well. An announcement for the same is around the corner⁶. However, “Border” is being planned as the biggest War film of Indian Cinema and hence, it will take some time, almost one year before taking it on floors. Sunny has shown all the excitement to feature in “Border 2”, but he has been discussing his financials with the stakeholders.
Reunion with Anil Sharma
Lastly, Anil Sharma, the director of “Gadar 2”, is also talking to Sunny Deol for the sequel to “Apne”. He intends to start rolling with it next year.
Apne 2 has been in the writing stage for a while now. The entire Deol family is on board the project and the family drama will go on floors last next year with a start-to-finish marathon schedule,” the source shared with another publication, adding further that Sunny will decide on his lineup after returning from the US.
There are also rumors of Sunny being offered a film each by YRF and Rohit Shetty, but there’s no confirmation yet.
The success of “Gadar 2” has made Sunny Deol one of the most sought-after actors of the Hindi Film Industry. With these potential collaborations on the horizon, fans can look forward to more exciting projects from this seasoned actor.
