After Housefull 5, Welcome 3, Hera Pheri 3, Awara Pagal Deewana 2, now another Akshay Kumar starrer is set to have a sequel.
As per latest media reports, the 2006 comedy thriller Bhagam Bhag, starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Paresh Rawal and Lara Dutta, will have a sequel. The film, which was directed by Priyadarshan and written by Neeraj Vora, was a hit at the box office and received mixed reviews from the critics. The film was loosely based on the Malayalam film Mannar Mathai Speaking, which itself was inspired by the 1958 Hollywood classic Vertigo.
The Story Of Akshay Kumar, Govinda Starrer Bhagam Bhag
The film revolves around a theatre group that travels to London for a show, only to get involved in a murder mystery and a drug racket. Akshay Kumar plays Bunty, a graduate in arts who wants to play the hero’s role in the play. Govinda plays Babla, an illiterate who also aspires to be the hero. Paresh Rawal plays Champak Chaturvedi, the owner of the theatre group who hires them. Lara Dutta plays Munni, a runaway bride who becomes the heroine of the play. The film also features Rajpal Yadav, Jackie Shroff, Arbaaz Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, Razak Khan, Sharat Saxena and Asrani in supporting roles.
Bhagam Bhag Sequel Details
According to an exclusive report by Times Now Digital, the sequel to Bhagam Bhag will be produced by Gandhar films, which is headed by Raj Mehta, the proprietor of Ashtavinayak which later closed down due to legal issues. The report also states that the modalities of the sequel are being worked out and the casting will begin soon. It is not clear whether Priyadarshan will return as a director, or whether any of the original cast members will reprise their roles.
The Expectations From The Bhagam Bhag Sequel
Bhagam Bhag was one of the last films that featured Akshay Kumar and Govinda together, who were known for their comic timing and chemistry. The film also marked the reunion of Priyadarshan and Neeraj Vora, who had collaborated on several successful comedies like Hera Pheri, Hungama and Hulchul. The film had a mix of slapstick humour, suspense, action and romance, and was appreciated for its fast-paced narrative and hilarious dialogues. The sequel will have to live up to the expectations of the fans who enjoyed the original film and its memorable characters.
Bhagam Bhag is not the only film that is getting a sequel in Bollywood. Recently, it was reported that Jab We Met, the 2007 romantic comedy starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, will also have a second part. The sequel will be produced by Gandhar films as well and will have a fresh cast and story.

‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is a joint venture between Jio Studios and Base Industries Group, produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Firoz A. Nadiadwallah. The film is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to hit theatres on December 20, 2024. It’s a date that promises to continue the legacy of laughter and entertainment that the ‘Welcome’ franchise is renowned for.
