Ajay Devgn’s Chauhaan Sparks Row After Kshatriya Parishad Objects To Clan Name Use

Ajay Devgn’s Chauhaan has run into controversy almost as soon as it was announced, with the film’s first look now overshadowed by a sharp objection from the Kshatriya Parishad. What began as a high-profile reveal for the actor’s new project has quickly turned into a debate over identity, history and the use of a powerful clan name in popular cinema.

The flashpoint came after the first look video for Chauhaan was released last week. While the unveiling drew attention from fans, it also triggered criticism from the Kshatriya community, which has accused the makers of using the Chauhan lineage in a way it finds unacceptable. The objection has now placed the film under an intense public spotlight at a very early stage.

Kshatriya Parishad Raises Objection

The latest development came on June 29, when the Kshatriya Parishad publicly expressed its opposition through a post on X. The organisation directly named Ajay Devgn and filmmaker Neeraj Yadav while objecting to the title and what it described as the framing around the project.

The statement read, “We strongly condemn the attempt by Neeraj Yadav and Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Chauhaan to appropriate the Chauhan clan name for contemporary communal politics.”

It further said, “Rajput history is not a political prop. The legacy of the Chauhans belongs to Rajput history , not to electoral…”

Those remarks have become central to the controversy, because the Parishad’s criticism is rooted not just in the film’s title but in the symbolic weight attached to the Chauhan name. That has turned Chauhaan from a straightforward announcement into a film facing immediate cultural scrutiny.

Why The Row Matters For The Film

At this point, the community’s statement is the clearest confirmed development around Chauhaan, and it has altered the film’s early conversation entirely. Instead of discussion staying focused on the first look and Ajay Devgn’s new avatar, attention has shifted to whether the film’s use of the clan identity crosses a line for those who consider it part of Rajput history and legacy.

For the makers, that means the rollout has entered difficult territory almost immediately. Any future communication around the film is now likely to be watched closely, especially because the objection has been framed in direct and political terms by the community body.

Ajay Devgn’S Recent And Upcoming Work

The controversy comes during a particularly visible phase in Ajay Devgn’s career. In recent years, he has balanced horror, romance and franchise action, with Shaitaan, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Singham Again keeping him firmly in the mainstream conversation. That mix of genres has reinforced his image as a star moving between mass entertainers and darker, mood-driven stories.

Against that backdrop, Chauhaan was positioned to be another major talking point in his lineup. Instead, the film is now making news for the resistance it has encountered at launch. How the makers respond next could shape not just the film’s public perception, but also the tone of its journey from announcement to release.
