On this Independence Day, some of the biggest personalities in entertainment, music, and influencers are teaming up for a global fundraising on Facebook, which is projected to collect upwards of Rs. 25 crore for Covid-19 relief efforts. We For India: Saving Lives, Protecting Livelihoods will be livestreamed on Sunday, August 15 at 7.30 p.m. IST to raise money for GiveIndia’s Covid-19 relief missions, the country’s largest and most trusted giving platform.
After the devastation caused by the second wave of the pandemic, the celebrity participants will express solidarity and support for saving lives and livelihoods in India. GiveIndia will use all earnings from the major event to deliver humanitarian help and develop healthcare facilities.
Over 100 artists, including Rajkumar Hirani, Karan Johar, Imtiaz Ali, Farah Khan, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikram Bhatt, and Ribhu Dasgupta, will take part in the three-hour videothon.
Ed Sheeran, Annie Lennox and her daughter Lola Lennox, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, Africa origin actress Ini Dima-Okojie, superstar and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Nancy Ajram, Co-founder of CHIC, Nile Rodgers, music duo Sister Sledge ft Sledgendary, and more will appear on the show. Storyteller Jay Shetty and television actress Dina Shihabi will also deliver inspiring remarks.

Funds will also be raised to aid long-term public recovery and the rebuilding of livelihoods, such as for individuals who have fallen into poverty as a result of a drop in earnings or a full loss of income. Rural and urban families that have been financially impacted by the pandemic will receive humanitarian aid in the form of meal and ration packs.
