Anurag Shyam, brother of popular television actor Anupam Shyam, claims that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan agreed to help them but then stopped returning their calls.
According to reports, the actor promised them a dialysis centre in Pratapgarh. Anupam Shyam died of multiple organ failure on Monday at the age of 63 in Mumbai. The actor had been ill for a few years and was undergoing dialysis.
Anurag Shyam, Anupam’s brother, claimed in a recent interview that the ‘Lagaan’ actor was disappointed that he was unable to meet his ailing mother before her death. Shyam’s mother was in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, at the time, and the town didn’t have a dialysis centre.
Anurag told Aajtak, “Our family has been facing a lot. My mother died last month. Anupam was shocked that he could not go to Pratapgarh . Without a dialysis centre in the town, going there would have been a major health risk for Anupam. We urged for a dialysis centre in Pratapgarh and Anupam even went to Aamir Khan for the same.”
“Aamir Khan gave us the assurance but stopped picking our calls after a few months,” he said.
In the popular TV series ‘Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya,’ Shyam played Thakur Sajjan Singh and gained fame. Slumdog Millionaire, Bandit Queen, Dil Se, Lagaan, and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi are among his other credits.
