Ajay Devgn is preparing to slip into a far more shadowy screen avatar, and this one comes wrapped in supernatural dread. For Rohit Jugraj’s next horror film, set against the moody backdrop of London, the actor will take on a dark character with supernatural powers, complete with a new distinct look designed specifically for the film’s unsettling world. The combination of Devgn’s screen intensity, a foreign setting, and a character rooted in the occult gives the project an instantly intriguing edge.
A Supernatural Turn With A Striking New Avatar
The untitled film has moved into pre-production, with the team currently putting key creative departments in place before cameras roll. Devgn’s role is central to the narrative, and the specially designed look is meant to deepen the film’s brooding, eerie atmosphere. The London setting also lends the project a visual character that separates it from more familiar horror landscapes in mainstream Hindi cinema.
The collaboration carries a neat genre connection. Rohit Jugraj had earlier assisted Ram Gopal Varma on Bhoot, the 2003 horror film featuring Devgn, before building his own directorial filmography with titles like James, Jatt James Bond, Sardaar Ji and Sardaar Ji 2. He also created the series Chamak, making this new film an especially interesting return to horror for both director and star.
For now, Devgn’s call sheet remains packed. He is currently committed to Golmaal 5 and Drishyam 3, after which Jugraj’s horror film is expected to go on floors in July. That places the supernatural drama amid a busy run of major titles, and gives it a distinct spot in an already crowded slate.
A Busy Slate, And A Horror Film That Stands Apart
Seen in that wider context, the Jugraj film becomes even more interesting. Over the past two years, Devgn has moved through sharply different tonal spaces on screen. In 2024, he starred in Shaitaan, the supernatural thriller co-starring R. Madhavan and Jyotika, followed by Maidaan, where he played football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. He was also seen in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha alongside Tabu and later returned as Bajirao Singham in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
Among his confirmed upcoming theatrical releases is Raid 2, the follow-up to his 2018 hit Raid. Yet the Rohit Jugraj horror film stands out for a different reason. Unlike his franchise-driven or sequel-based titles, this one hinges on mood, transformation, and a far darker character design, giving Devgn room to explore a more stylised supernatural space. In a line-up filled with familiar brands, this is the project that promises a fresh visual and tonal shift.
