Akshay Kumar And Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla May Shift To April 17 Amid Dhurandhar The Revenge Wave

The release corridor around Bhooth Bangla has suddenly turned into one of the most closely watched trade stories of the week. With Dhurandhar The Revenge showing a formidable hold after its opening rush, Akshay Kumar and the team behind the Priyadarshan-directed horror comedy are now reassessing whether April 10 remains the right launch date.

The Latest Release Date Discussion

Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that Bhooth Bangla is being seriously evaluated for a one week push, from April 10 to April 17. The immediate trigger is the sustained theatrical momentum of Dhurandhar The Revenge, which has continued to command audience attention even after its massive start.

According to the source material, the makers believe the Ranveer Singh-led action film may still remain a powerful force in its fourth week, the same frame in which Bhooth Bangla is currently positioned. At the same time, the team is also weighing the counter argument that by April 10, a large chunk of the target audience may already have watched Dhurandhar The Revenge, potentially giving the Akshay Kumar starrer enough breathing room to open well on its own terms.

A decision is expected shortly. The same source material adds that if Bhooth Bangla stays on April 10, its theatrical trailer is planned for March 27. If the film is pushed by a week, the trailer launch will move accordingly. That makes the next 24 hours crucial for exhibitors and the trade, especially because there is currently no major Hindi release dated for April 17.

Dhurandhar The Revenge Broke All Records

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar The Revenge is holding the box office in a vice-like grip, even with a natural midweek slowdown setting in. After an explosive launch, the Aditya Dhar directorial recorded an estimated 15 percent drop from Monday on Tuesday, yet still stayed near the Rs 50 crore mark on day six, a sign that its first week run remains remarkably strong.

Early estimates place the film at around Rs 48 crore nett in Hindi on Tuesday. Across languages, the day’s haul went past Rs 50 crore nett, powered in part by solid dubbed version business, especially in Telugu markets. That takes the six-day total to roughly Rs 490 crore nett in India, leaving the Rs 500 crore milestone within touching distance today. Film also crossed 800 crore worldwide gross.

What We Know About Bhooth Bangla

Bhooth Bangla is directed by Priyadarshan and marks his much-anticipated reunion with Akshay Kumar after Khatta Meetha in 2010. The film is backed by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films, with Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor attached as producers. The ensemble cast includes Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani.

The film is a horror comedy and has already received a UA 16+ certificate ahead of release. Its premise, going by the teaser and official material so far, blends a haunted house setup with Priyadarshan’s trademark comic chaos. That combination has given the project strong curiosity value, especially among audiences nostalgic for the filmmaker’s Hindi comedy space.

Akshay Kumar’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Akshay Kumar’s recent run has been packed with varied theatrical choices. In 2024, he starred in Sarfira, directed by Sudha Kongara, followed by Khel Khel Mein, a Mudassar Aziz ensemble comedy released on August 15, 2024. In 2025, he appeared in Sky Force, the war drama directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, co-starring Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur.

As of March 2026, Bhooth Bangla stands as one of his key confirmed upcoming theatrical releases and also signals a return to a space closely associated with his comedy legacy. That Priyadarshan reunion is precisely why the release date call now carries added significance.
