Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan 2 Promises Bigger Horror and a Shared Universe
Following the fearsome success of Shaitaan in 2024, Ajay Devgn is poised to provide moviegoers with even more spine-tingling horror with Shaitaan 2. The sequel, again directed by Vikas Bahl, will begin filming in 2026 immediately after the completion of Devgn’s much-anticipated comedy Golmaal FIVE with Rohit Shetty.
And the bigger news? Shaitaan 2 isn’t just a sequel — it’s the jumpstart of a supernatural cinematic universe, with many murmurs already about crossovers and returning characters, possibly even a cameo from Kajol!
More Capacity and More Lore: Shaitaan 2 Has Everything
According to sources with insider information on the production of the film, Shaitaan 2 will have the same cast of Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala but will include new actors to up the tension and expand the narrative canvas. The names will surely be withheld for now, but casting is supposed to commence late this year.
The story moves from the more urban context of the original Shaitaan to the Konkan region of Maharashtra, rife with native folklore and occult rituals — making for an even darker and more atmospheric experience than before.
While the first film was based on the Gujarati horror Vash, the sequel will be an original idea by Aamil Keeyan Khan, who was also responsible for Shaitaan‘s screenplay.
Kajol’s Maa Connect: Building A Universe?
A possible fan theory is that Shaitaan 2 will be in tandem with Kajol’s mytho-horror film Maa. An insider claimed that the teaser announcement for Shaitaan 2 may premiere along with Maa in theatres on June 27, 2025.
With both films under the same banner of Devgn’s production house and exploring Indian supernatural mythology, one can’t help but think, ‘Is this just a coincidence, or could it be some kind of shared horror universe like The Conjuring series?’
There are even rumours that Kajol will reprise her role from Maa as a terrifying goddess character in Shaitaan 2.
Production Timeline & Devgn’s Busy Schedule
Shaitaan 2 is currently under massaging and written situation, with Vikas Bahl in the writer’s seat. The film is expected to begin filming in early to mid-2026 if Ajay Devgn finishes Golmaal FIVE when he is claimed to.
The tentative theatrical release is expected but will depend on VFX work and post-production schedules on whether it will be released on a 2027 date.
