Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar 2 Faces Censor Scrutiny; Find Out What Was Changed Days Before Release

It has been over a decade since audiences were first treated to the chaotic, over-the-top world of Son Of Sardaar. The 2012 film, starring Ajay Devgn, was a massive box office success, celebrated for its unique blend of high-octane action and laugh-out-loud comedy. Get ready to experience unstoppable laughter and a wholesome dose of family fun as Ajay Devgn and his clan gear up to light up the big screen with Son of Sardaar 2 on 1st of August 2025! Promising double the comedy, double the drama, and double the madness, this ultimate entertainer is surely going to turn your theatre visit into a joyous family celebration.

The journey to its release has already seen some strategic drama. The film’s producers, Devgn Films and Jio Studios, wisely postponed the release from its original July 25 date to avoid a box office clash with the surprise blockbuster Saiyaara. Now, with a clear path ahead, new details have emerged that show the film went through a final round of scrutiny from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) just days before its premiere.

What Changes Did the Censors Order?

According to report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC’s Examining Committee requested four specific modifications to the film’s dialogue, while impressively leaving all the visual and action sequences completely untouched.

The most notable change ordered was the muting and replacement of a direct reference to Xi Jinping, the President of China. This move aligns with the CBFC’s historically cautious stance on using names of active, high-profile international political leaders, a step often taken to prevent any potential diplomatic sensitivities.

The other three audio cuts are more typical for a mainstream entertainer aiming for a broad family audience. The board requested that the word ‘item’ be replaced with ‘madam’, a move that reflects the ongoing evolution of on-screen language. A common rough phrase, ‘Kutte ki tarah’, was also softened to ‘Bahut buri tarah’. Lastly, a sentence that began with ‘Bhagwan…’ was asked to be replaced with a more appropriate dialogue to avoid any religious controversy.

With these minor audio adjustments made, the path is now officially clear for a grand theatrical release. Son Of Sardaar 2 has been awarded a U/A 13+ certificate, making it accessible to a wide audience. The film’s final runtime is a substantial 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 32 seconds, suggesting the makers are confident in a packed narrative with ample space for both the comedic set-pieces and action-packed confrontations the franchise is known for.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast to support Ajay Devgn. With Mrunal Thakur stepping in as the female lead and comedy stalwarts like Deepak Dobriyal and Sanjay Mishra promising to bring their reliable comic timing, the film is expected to be a laugh riot. The presence of actors like Ravi Kishan and Neeru Bajwa further adds to its pan-India appeal.

Releasing at the beginning of August gives Son Of Sardaar 2 a long and promising window to perform at the box office, leading up to the Independence Day holiday week. For fans of Ajay Devgn and the action-comedy genre, the wait is finally over.
