Akshay Kumar is currently in the spotlight with his latest film Sarfira, a remake of the Tamil hit Soorarai Pottru. The actor recently opened up about the harsh realities of the film industry. Despite his disciplined work ethic, Akshay has faced significant challenges at the box office, with only two clean hits among his last ten releases.
During a recent chat with Galatta Plus, he addressed the rumours about his commitment to his work and hinted at knowing who started these damaging reports.
Akshay Kumar FEELS People’s Perception About Him Has Changed
Known for his strict eight-hour workdays and punctuality, Akshay reflected on how perceptions have shifted. “I don’t want to get into the details of who started this (wrong perception), because it starts from somewhere. It starts from somebody who doesn’t like you. That’s how it starts, they pick one or two things.”
He added, “Remember what they used to say earlier? They used to say, ‘Akshay’s films don’t take long; he comes on time and leaves on time’. I used to do 17 films at a time, and they used to be released within eight months; that’s how efficient I was considered… But now, when films don’t work, they say that I don’t devote enough time.”
Sarfira Actor Says They Love Seeing His Film Failing
Akshay expressed his disappointment at the celebration of his recent flops, including the high-profile failure of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The film, which starred Tiger Shroff and Prithviraj alongside him, was anticipated to be a blockbuster but fell short of expectations. “People love seeing when my films don’t work. People love seeing it, they’re happy. I’ve seen it myself,” he remarked.
Delving deeper into industry politics, Akshay condemned the culture of backstabbing and negativity. “Till today, in 33-34 years, I have never spoken ill of anyone. I always feel that you have no right to take anybody’s name and put the person down,” he stated firmly.
Akshay’s ADVISE To People: ‘Don’t Put Others Down’
He offered advice to his peers, urging them to refrain from demeaning others. “I would like to give this advice to people. Don’t put others down. I see it in politics, I see it in my own industry. Ek hero dusre hero ko gaali deta hai, director usko gaali deta hai, producer uss hero ko gaali deta hai (everybody is calling each other names). I just fail to understand why you all are abusing each other. There is so much of energy that is just going to waste.”
Talking about his work front, Akshay Kumar is currently seen in his latest release Sarfira with Radhikka Madan. His next is Khel Khel Mein with Taapsee Pannu which releases in August. Additionally, Akshay also has a cameo in Stree 2.
Furthermore, he is involved in projects like Housefull 3, Welcome To The Jungle, Jolly LLB 3, Sky Force and more.
