Akshay Kumar Welcomes Dhurandhar The Revenge Success Before Bhoot Bangla Release, Says ‘This Is Good For The Industry, Three weeks is usually sufficient…..”

In an industry where stars often grow guarded when another film captures the box office conversation, Akshay Kumar has taken a strikingly different line. As Dhurandhar-2 continues to draw large audiences, the actor has chosen to celebrate its success instead of treating it as a hurdle for Bhoot Bangla.

Speaking during promotions for Bhoot Bangla, Akshay was asked whether the strong run of Dhurandhar-2 could affect the business of his own release. Responding warmly, he said, “I am very happy that the film Dhurandhar is running so well and attracting such large audiences. This film has taken Indian cinema to a new level, which is very encouraging. Three weeks is usually sufficient, and here we are talking about 21 days. This is good for the industry and also gives you opportunities to do more interviews. If films don’t perform, there would be no platform for such interactions.”

His use of the title Dhurandhar in the quote did little to change the larger point. Akshay’s message was clear: a thriving theatrical market helps everyone. Instead of framing the moment as a clash narrative, he shifted attention to the health of cinemas and the value of films that bring audiences back to theatres in big numbers.

Why Akshay Kumar Is Embracing A Rival Hit

Akshay also made it clear that Bhoot Bangla is playing to a different audience lane from Dhurandhar-2. In the same interaction, he described Dhurandhar as a film for adults, while positioning Bhoot Bangla as a clean entertainer for children and families. That distinction is central to the team’s confidence heading into release.

Akshay Kumar said, “Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on whether ‘Dhurandhar-2’ revenge will affect business of ‘Bhoot Bangla’, says, “… I am very happy that the film Durandhar is running so well and attracting such large audiences. This film has taken Indian cinema to a new level, which is very encouraging. Three weeks is usually sufficient, and here we are talking about 21 days… This is good for the industry and also gives you opportunities to do more interviews. If films don’t perform, there would be no platform for such interactions.”

Watch the video:

Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhoot Bangla marks Akshay’s reunion with one of his most successful creative collaborators after a long gap. The horror comedy features Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi and Rajpal Yadav, and is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films. Produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on May 15, 2026.

That reunion matters beyond nostalgia. The Akshay, Priyadarshan combination has long been associated with broad-appeal entertainers, and Bhoot Bangla fits neatly into that tradition while giving the actor another high-visibility theatrical vehicle.

How Bhoot Bangla Fits His 2026 Comeback Plan

Seen in that context, Bhoot Bangla is not just another release on Akshay Kumar’s crowded slate. It is part of a clear theatrical strategy. In 2024, he was seen in Sarfira and Khel Khel Mein, while 2025 brought Sky Force, keeping him active across genres and firmly rooted in the big screen space.

The road ahead reinforces that positioning. Alongside Bhoot Bangla, Akshay is also attached to Haiwaan, another Priyadarshan directorial that will star Saif Ali Khan with him. Taken together, these projects suggest a star leaning into comedy, scale and familiar collaborations to strengthen his theatrical footing. That is what gives his reaction to Dhurandhar-2 extra weight: he is not speaking from the sidelines, but as an actor still deeply invested in the cinema-first game.
