Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar are joining forces once again, this time for a biopic on C Sankaran Nair. After their successes with Kesari and Good Newwz, they are set to deliver a courtroom drama based on the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film features a strong cast, including R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles.

A source close to the project told Pinkvilla, “C Sankaran Nair Biopic is a film close to the heart of Akshay Kumar and everyone at Dharma, as it’s a story that deserves to be told on celluloid. The core plot of the film features Akshay Kumar taking down the Empire to finally recognise the horrors of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre being committed by the British in India. The post-production work is going on in full swing, as the makers are leaving no stone unturned to recreate India and London from the era gone by”

There’s already a lot of excitement around the film, with a title announcement expected in the next two weeks. Insiders suggest this courtroom drama could be one of Akshay Kumar’s best performances. The upcoming trailer is expected to showcase the film’s scale, content, and performances. “Several feedback screenings have fetched unanimous positive responses, and the team is bullish on the film. They are looking to release it in the right period. The shoot is wrapped up and the content is presently in post-production mode. The makers are clear to bring their film on the big screen in the first half of 2025,” the source added.
The film is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire – One Man’s Fight for the Truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. The story focuses on one of the most important legal battles in history, highlighting C Sankaran Nair’s fight for justice. This trial was among the longest in history and played a key role in exposing the British Empire’s atrocities.
