Akki’s latest release Khel Khel Mein hit theatres on August 15 with a disastrous response at the box office. It featured a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal. Despite the high expectations, the film struggled to make a mark. This multi-starrer comedy-drama was overshadowed by the release of Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2.
However, director Mudassar Aziz remains optimistic about his working relationship with Kumar. In an interview with ETimes, Aziz shared his wish to work with Bollywood’s Khiladi in his future projects.

He praised the strong bond they developed during the making of Khel Khel Mein, saying, “The way he and I have bonded through the making of this film, I don’t see how he and I will not collaborate.” Although no new projects have been confirmed yet, their collaboration seems highly probable.
Aziz also elaborated on the casting choice for Khel Khel Mein, revealing that Akshay Kumar was always his top pick for the role of Rishabh Malik, a charismatic plastic surgeon with a mischievous streak. Aziz explained, “It was cemented in my head.
Akshay Kumar lying on screen is very beautiful because he lies with a glint of naughtiness in his eyes. So that was unmistakable.” Kumar’s unique ability to blend charm with cunning made him the perfect fit for the character.
Akshay Kumar: Upcoming Projects
Looking ahead, Akshay Kumar has a busy slate. His next film, Sky Force, was initially set for release on October 2, 2024, but has been postponed to January 24, 2025. This action drama, which features Sara Ali Khan, Veer Pahariya, and Nimrat Kaur, is a patriotic tribute to the Indian Air Force and will premiere during Republic Day week.
In addition to Sky Force, Kumar is working on Jolly LLB 3, where he will reunite with Arshad Warsi. His busy schedule also includes roles in Welcome to the Jungle, Shakara, and Hera Pheri 3. Kumar will also make a special appearance in the Telugu film Kannappa and has a role in the Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.
