Akshay Kumar has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his devotional song “Mahakal Chalo.” The song, dedicated to Lord Shiva, faced backlash from a priest association over certain visuals that they found inappropriate.

Mahesh Sharma, president of the priest association, expressed his concerns in an interview with News18. He said, “While the song is good, some visuals are inappropriate.
In the video, Akshay Kumar is seen embracing the Shivling, which is not acceptable. Additionally, the bhasma (sacred ash) is being offered in a way that doesn’t align with tradition.”
Here’s How Actor Reacted
Akshay responded to the criticism during a press conference for his upcoming film Kannappa, where he plays Lord Shiva. Defending his actions, he stated, “Since childhood, my parents taught me that Bhagwan hamare maata pita hai. So, if you hug your parents, what is wrong with that? Is there anything wrong with it?”
He further added, “Absolutely not. Meri agar shakti wahan se aati hai, toh meri bhakti ko agar koi galat samjhe, usmein mera koi kasoor nahi. That’s it.”
Despite the controversy, Akshay remains steadfast in his devotion. He recently visited the Maha Kumbh and was impressed by the arrangements.
Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “I don’t think there is any country in the world which can handle a crowd of 60 crore people in 45 days. Hats off. Sab apne aap chal raha hai aur pyaar se chal raha tha. My experience of Maha Kumbh was very good.”
On the work front, Akshay is riding high on the success of Sky Force, which performed well at the box office. He has a packed schedule ahead, with films like Bhooth Bangla, Kesari Chapter 2, Welcome To The Jungle, Housefull 5, and Hera Pheri 3 lined up for release.
