A fire broke out inside a Delhi theatre during the screening of Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal. The incident took place on February 26 at Select Citywalk Mall, causing panic among the audience. A section of the screen caught fire, but no injuries were reported.

According to News18, the fire started around 5:44 PM, prompting an immediate response from Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Six fire tenders were dispatched, and the blaze was contained within 10 minutes. Officials later confirmed that no one was harmed.
A spokesperson from the mall addressed the situation, stating that they were aware of the short circuit at the multiplex. They assured full cooperation with the theatre management and authorities while confirming that operations at Nexus Select Citywalk remained unaffected.
PTI reported that emergency teams were dispatched after authorities received a call about the fire. There were initial concerns about people being trapped inside, but the fire was extinguished without any casualties.
Veer Singh, a fan who was present at the screening, shared his experience with PTI. He said that as soon as people noticed the fire and smoke, panic set in.
He recalled, “Everyone started screaming. The alarm went off, and the cinema staff immediately asked us to evacuate.”

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava hit cinemas on February 14, 2025. The historical action drama stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empire’s founder. Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale, while Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta also appear in key roles.
The film has been performing well at the box office since its release. Meanwhile, the makers recently shared an exciting update about its Telugu-dubbed version. Maddock Films announced their collaboration with Thandel producer Bunny Vas under the banner of Geetha Arts. Responding to high demand, they confirmed that Chhaava will hit Telugu screens on March 7.
Despite the fire incident, the enthusiasm for Chhaava remains strong, and fans are eagerly awaiting its Telugu release.
