Speaking at a cybercrime awareness event organised with the Mumbai Police, the actor opened up about the real dangers children face in the digital world today.
In an emotional speech, Akshay Kumar didn’t just talk about the problem in general terms; he shared a story from his own home to highlight how serious the issue is. His powerful words served as a wake-up call for every parent, showing that no one is immune to the threats lurking online.
A Shocking Personal Story
Recalling the incident, Akshay explained that it happened a few months ago while his daughter was playing a video game online. “My daughter was playing a video game, and there are some video games that you can play with someone… you are playing with an unknown stranger,” he said. The fun and games took a dark turn when the stranger started sending inappropriate messages.
Akshay continued, “A message came, ‘Are you male or female?’ So she replied female. And then he sent a message, ‘Can you send me nude pictures of yours?’” The actor shared that his daughter immediately switched everything off and informed her mother, Twinkle Khanna. He pointed out how predators often trap kids with friendly conversation before showing their real intentions, calling it a common form of cybercrime.
A Call For Action In Schools
Moved by his personal experience, Akshay Kumar made a strong appeal to the Maharashtra government to take concrete steps to protect children. He proposed a simple yet effective solution: introducing a mandatory “Cyber Period” in schools. “I would request the Chief Minister that in our Maharashtra state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, there should be a period called cyber period where children should be explained about it,” he urged.
The actor stressed the urgency of the situation, stating, “You all know that this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime.” His appeal was not just that of a celebrity, but of a concerned father wanting to ensure a safer digital environment for all children.
