Akshay Kumar is known for doing multiple films at once. Every year, he churns out 4-5 films with consistency. However, his recent works have not been able to perform well, both critically and commercially. One of his upcoming projects is titled The Great Indian Rescue. Now, we have its official release date. The film, which is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, is slated to release theatrically on October 5 this year.
The news was announced via Taran Adarsh on Twitter. Parineeti Chopra also plays the lead role in this film about which very little is known. It is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Jackky Bhagnani, and Ajay Kapoor. The first look of the film shows Akshay in the getup of a Sardar.
Well, fans are already excited to see Akshay playing a Sikh after the successful Kesari. The film is based on the 1989 Raniganj Coalfields incident in which 64 miners were trapped. Jaswant Singh, whom Akshay is portraying in the film, saved their lives in a rescue mission. We can hope that, unlike his recent releases, The Great Indian Rescue performs well at the box office and gives a much-required boost to Akshay’s career that has taken a hit.

Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Projects
Kumar will be next seen in OMG 2, which is a direct sequel to OMG: Oh My God. In the film, which also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay plays the role of Lord Shiva. He will be also seen in the Bollywood remake of Soorarai Pottru. Apart from this, he is also filming a Marathi-language film titled Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat as well as Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff. The latter is a remake of David Dhawan’s 1998 eponymous action comedy flick.
