Rajkumar Hirani is one of the most celebrated filmmakers in Bollywood. His ability to perfectly blend art with commercial sensibilities makes him a critical darling as well as a box-office champion. As we all know that he is working on his next film titled Dunki which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu.
But the maverick filmmaker has been also working on his debut web series. An industry source has said that Hirani recently finished shooting for his OTT debut show. The source continued that the show is being produced by Hirani and he also serves as the showrunner. While audiences across the nation are eagerly waiting for Dunki, Hirani masterfully finished this project away from the limelight.
Not much is known about his web series except the fact that it was conceived somewhere around 2019 when he parted ways with his long-time collaborator Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Vidhu had served as the producer of all of Hirani’s films, including the Munna Bhai series and 3 Idiots. Hirani then went on to establish his own production company titled Rajkumar Hirani Films Pvt Ltd. Its first venture was the 2018 biographical drama film Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film, which was based on Sanjay Dutt, went on to become a massive critical and commercial hit.
About Dunki
Dunki follows the story of a person who tries to use an illegal backdoor travel route called Donkey Flight. This term is mostly used for people from India who try to travel to countries like USA and Canada illegally. Shah Rukh Khan has said that the film is the story of people who want to come back home. The film is scheduled to release theatrically on December 22. Looking at Hirani’s track record and SRK’s star power, the film is expected to do well at the box office.
