Over the course of the last three years, there has been a significant amount of speculation surrounding the anticipated biographical film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which focuses on the life of Sahir Ludhianvi, a poet, thinker, and reformist. Initially, Abhishek Bachchan was considered for the highly sought-after role. However, numerous suggestions regarding potential replacements have been proposed in different media outlets.
Several names such as Farhan Akhtar and Irrfan Khan emerged as possible candidates to portray Sahir Ludhianvi in the upcoming biopic. However, the latest update on the project indicates that it has been seemingly abandoned or put on hold.
About The Project
Contrary to previous rumors, the film is indeed progressing and is scheduled to begin production in 2023. Sanjay Bhansali himself confirmed that the biopic on Sahir Ludhianvi, titled Sahir, will exclusively feature Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role, leaving no room for any other actor. It should be noted that Priyanka Chopra was offered the role of Amrita Pritam, the muse of Sahir Ludhianvi, but she expressed her preference for a different actor to play the titular character instead of Abhishek Bachchan.
