Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla Postponed From April 2 Release: Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 Also Likely To Shift From April 3 To Avoid Dhurandhar 2 And Toxic Clash

Akshay Kumar‘s horror comedy Bhooth Bangla has been postponed from its April 2 release date. In related news, Emraan Hashmi‘s Awarapan 2 is also likely to shift from its April 3 release to avoid the storm created by Dhurandhar 2 and the extended run of Toxic post Eid 2026. This strategic move reflects the makers’ concerns about box office competition during what promises to be a packed release window.

Both films were positioned to capitalize on the post Eid period, but the changing landscape of big releases has forced the makers to reconsider their strategies. The postponement indicates that distributors are being cautious about releasing medium budget films when mega blockbusters are expected to dominate screens.

Bhooth Bangla Moves Away From April 2

Bhooth Bangla is a horror comedy starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The film was originally scheduled to release on April 2, but the makers have now decided to postpone the release. This decision comes as a surprise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Akshay Kumar in a horror comedy avatar after a long time.

The horror comedy genre has proven to be successful at the box office when given the right release window. However, releasing in early April when bigger films are expected to hold screens would have made it difficult for Bhooth Bangla to find adequate showcasing and audience attention.

Awarapan 2 Also Likely To Shift

Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi, was scheduled to release on April 3, just one day after Bhooth Bangla. However, sources suggest that this film is also likely to shift its release date. The makers reportedly want to avoid the massive competition from Dhurandhar 2 and the continued theatrical run of Toxic following the Eid 2026 holiday period.

Awarapan 2 is the sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan, which had developed a cult following over the years. Emraan Hashmi returns to reprise his role, and fans have been eagerly waiting for this project. However, the strategic shift in release date suggests that the makers want to give the film the best possible chance at the box office.

Dhurandhar 2 And Toxic Create Release Pressure

The primary reason behind both postponements appears to be the anticipated dominance of Dhurandhar 2 and the extended run of Toxic. Toxic, starring Yash, is scheduled to release during Eid 2026 on March 19 and is expected to have a long theatrical run given the massive anticipation surrounding the project.

Additionally, Dhurandhar 2, the sequel to the all time blockbuster Dhurandhar, is expected to create a storm at the box office. Distributors and exhibitors are likely to prioritize these massive films, leaving limited screens and show timings for medium budget releases like Bhooth Bangla and Awarapan 2.

Strategic Postponements Becoming Common

This development is part of a larger trend where filmmakers are being increasingly strategic about release dates. Avoiding direct or indirect clashes with big budget tentpole films has become essential for ensuring adequate screen space and audience attention. Both Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s films need proper showcasing to recover their investments and turn profitable.

Trade experts believe that shifting to a less crowded window will give both films a better chance at success. The makers are reportedly scouting for new release dates that offer clear runs without major competition from established franchises or star driven blockbusters.

About The Postponements

Bhooth Bangla is a horror comedy starring Akshay Kumar that was scheduled to release on April 2 but has now been postponed. Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi, was set for April 3 release but is also likely to shift its date. The makers want to secure better showcasing and audience attention by choosing less crowded release windows. New release dates for both films are yet to be announced.
