After a 14-year hiatus, filmmaker Priyadarshan is returning to direction and has recently confirmed his collaboration with Akshay Kumar. Their last joint project was the film Khatta Meetha.
However, their upcoming venture is a departure from their previous work together. This time, they’re delving into the realm of horror comedy, infused with elements of fantasy and black magic.
The latest buzz surrounding their collaboration revolves around the casting of the female lead role.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Priyadarshan’s script calls for a strong and capable actress to share the screen with Akshay Kumar. As a result, the director is considering top talents like Alia Bhatt, Keerthy Suresh, and Kiara Advani for the pivotal role.
“The makers have approached Alia, Keerthy, and Kiara. Talks are underway, and one will be finalized depending on their response to the script, availability of dates, and remuneration. If Alia gives her nod, it will mark her first collaboration as a leading lady with Akshay in her 12-year career,” as reported by the tabloid.
Akshay’s Horror Comedy To Go On Floors In December 2024 At THIS Location
According to reports, Akshay Kumar’s upcoming project with director Priyadarshan is set to kick off in December 2024.
The first schedule is slated to begin in London on December 8, followed by shoots in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Sources indicate that this horror fantasy comedy is being planned on a grand scale.
The film’s elaborate sets will be crafted by renowned art director Sabu Cyril, while the cinematography will be helmed by Santosh Sivan. A source revealed, “It will be a start-to-finish shoot and will end in February 2025.”
In the meantime, Akshay Kumar has multiple releases lined up for this year. Apart from the Priyadarshan project, he is set to star in Sarfira alongside Radhika Madan, Sky Force with Veer Pahariya, and Welcome to the Jungle featuring an ensemble cast. His latest appearance was in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
