Akshay Kumar bought the rights to the narrative of the Raniganj Coalfield rescue mission in 2017. The project is now in process. The film which is titled Capsule Gill would reunite him with Parineeti Chopra, whom he first collaborated in the film Kesari. Tinu Suresh Desai, who directed Rustom, will direct the film, which will be produced by Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment and Ajay Kapoor’s Kyta Productions.

Talking about the story of the film, in 1989, 64 miners were trapped underground for unversed. Jaswant Singh Gill, Additional Chief Mining Engineer, was the rescue operation’s hero, risking his own life to save others. He’d gone down the capsule’s borehole and planned the safe evacuation of the trapped miners. The 65 miners had to be brought up one by one, which took around 6 hours. President of India awarded him India’s highest civilian gallantry award, the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak (SJRP), for saving the lives of 65 miners.
