Alia Bhatt has finally responded to the box office failure of her last film Jigra. The prison-break thriller directed by Vasan Bala and co-starring Vedang Raina had high expectations but failed to attract audiences to cinemas.
Now, the actress has shared how the film’s performance has only reignited her passion for her craft.
Alia Bhatt On Jigra’s Poor Box Office Performance
During a recent chat with Jay Shetty, Alia was asked about her dreams and aspirations. She spoke about her deep passion for acting and producing, revealing that her professional ambitions never stop evolving. While reflecting on Jigra’s underwhelming run, she admitted that the setback has only pushed her to work harder.
She shared, “I don’t think I’m ever comfortable, and I really like that about my mind. I had a film released last year that didn’t do really well, and that’s given me a new vigor for a new dream to try and do over. It’s something I feel very charged by. So that’s the professional dream.”
Apart from her work goals, Alia also opened up about her personal dreams for the year. She hopes to spend more time with her family and daughter and also wants to take a solo trip.
Vasan Bala Had Earlier REACTED To Film’s Failure
Director Vasan Bala also spoke about the film’s struggle at the box office. In a conversation with Fever FM, he took responsibility for the outcome and emphasised the need to analyse what went wrong.
“This is why I need to analyse. Kuch toh hua hai na (Something has happened, right)? Something has happened where people have stayed away, something that they have not bought, something that they didn’t feel the need to come to the theater. If at all any other actor decides to give their time, his or her, then you know, make it worth it,” he said.
Alia Bhatt: Upcoming Projects
Despite Jigra’s box office disappointment, Alia has an exciting lineup ahead. She will next be seen in Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail. This action-packed film will be the first female-led movie in the YRF Spy Universe.
Starring alongside Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, Alia is set to take on a power-packed role. The film is scheduled for a Christmas 2025 release.
She is also set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, where she will reunite with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is already generating buzz for its compelling storyline and star-studded cast.
While Jigra may not have achieved box office success, Alia’s passion for her craft remains stronger than ever.
