Alia Bhatt is set for a busy year, with two major films lined up. She’s starring in a spy universe film under the Yash Raj banner and Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Alia Bhatt’s YRF Spyverse Film To Begin Shooting From June 15
Insiders revealed to Dainik Bhaskar that special attention is being paid to the visual aspects of the spy film. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film’s cinematography is handled by Rubais, known for his work in The Railway Man. Action scenes are choreographed by Craig Macrae from South Africa, who has previously worked on Pathaan, Jawan, and Yoddha. This ensures the film will have top-notch action sequences. Shooting for the film starts on June 15, with the first schedule in Mumbai, followed by a stint in London.

Alia’s character in the spy film has connections spanning multiple countries, adding a global dimension to the story. Hrithik Roshan will make a cameo appearance as her mentor, a role previously rumoured to be played by Shah Rukh Khan.
This casting decision was confirmed by sources close to Alia Bhatt. Sharvari Wagh, who will soon appear in Maddock Films’ Munjya, plays her sister in the film. Anil Kapoor will portray their father, and Bobby Deol will take on the role of the villain.
The spy film will be released after War 2 and before Pathaan 2. Aditya Chopra, cautious after the underwhelming performance of Tiger 3, has postponed his ambitious project Tiger vs Pathaan. He aims to build a strong foundation with Pathaan 2, which will begin shooting in December. This film will feature a clash between the characters of Tiger and Pathaan, leading up to their final showdown in Tiger vs Pathaan, scheduled for release in 2027.

On the other hand, Love and War is set in the 1970s, traversing India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Bhansali, known for his visually stunning films, is setting this movie in a period era, similar to Gangubai Kathiawadi.
While Gangubai Kathiawadi was set in the 1960s, Love and War takes place a decade later, incorporating the 1971 Indo-Pak war into its narrative. Significant portions of the film will be shot in Mumbai and Kolkata.
