Alia Bhatt, who has been delivering back-to-back hits with films like Darlings, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, has bagged another big project in her kitty. The actress is set to star in Aditya Chopra’s Spy Universe film, which will connect with Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan, the most successful film of the franchise.
Alia Bhatt to play a part of JOCR team led by Pathaan
According to a report by Bollywood Life, Alia’s character in the film will be shown as a protege of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, who is the head of a covert team called JOCR. JOCR was started by Dimple Kapadia in Pathaan but dies during a mission in the film, which reportedly will now be led by Shah Rukh Khan who was a part of the team then. The film will also feature Sharvari Wagh, who made her debut with Bunty Aur Babli 2, as another member of the team.
Shah Rukh might do a cameo in Alia Bhatt’s solo spy film
The report also revealed that there is a possibility of Shah Rukh Khan making a cameo appearance in the film, as he did in Salman Khan’s Tiger 3. The film will be the eighth installment of the YRF Spy Universe, which also includes films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, War 2 and Pathaan 2.
It’s the first time in YRF’s career that they will make a film entirely led by the female cast and YRF is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that their first female lead spy film is the biggest hit. The film is expected to have high-octane action sequences and thrilling twists. The untitled film will be directed by Shiv Rawail, who helmed YRF’s Netflix project The Railway Men.
In addition to Pathaan 2, Alia Bhatt’s solo spy film to also set stage for Tiger vs Pathaan
According to Bollywood Hungama, in addition to Pathaan 2, Alia Bhatt’s solo spy film, which is yet to be titled, will also set the stage for Tiger vs Pathaan.The film, which is expected to release in 2025, will feature Alia Bhatt as a spy who will cross paths with both Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) and Tiger (Salman Khan) in different missions.
As per the latest media reports, Tiger vs Pathaan will be the 9th Film of YRF Spy Universe. “Not just Pathaan 2, even the Alia Bhatt film will lead itself to the Tiger and Pathaan conflict. Aditya Chopra will be positioning Tiger vs Pathaan as the Spy-Venger Film of the most ambitious cinematic universe of Indian Cinema. The details of how all feature films lead to Tiger vs Pathaan in YRF Universe is kept under wraps as things stand today. Tiger vs Pathaan will begin once Pathaan 2 shoot is wrapped up,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.
Alia Bhatt’s work front
Alia Bhatt has just wrapped and will start with the promotions of her upcoming film Jigra, which is directed by Vasan Bala and produced by her and Karan Johar. The film is slated to release on September 27, 2024. She will also be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The actress is also making her debut as an executive producer with the web series Poachers, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video from February 23, 2024.
