Vikas Bahl has locked a fresh pairing with Alizeh Agnihotri and Siddhant Chaturvedi for a new feature at a time when both actors have been juggling projects with uncertain timelines. The development also signals Bahl’s continued interest in mounting star facing, actor led films after a run of high profile titles, but with a noticeable shift in packaging and subject.
For Agnihotri, the move comes after her post debut slate has taken longer than expected to firm up in the public domain, despite multiple announcements around her next steps. For Chaturvedi, it extends his working relationship with Bahl even as one of their earlier collaborations remains without a clear release runway.
Vikas Bahl announces a new UK set Punjabi music scene film with Alizeh and Siddhant
The newly announced film is positioned as a 1990s set story rooted in the UK Punjabi underground music scene, with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Alizeh Agnihotri leading the cast. 
The announcement is being positioned as a distinct, original musical world, separate from Bahl’s other projects in development. That clarity matters because the director has been linked to multiple actor combinations over the past year, and not all of them have moved into production on schedule. 
La Famille Belier remake stalls
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that an earlier Bahl backed plan connected to La Famille Bélier did not move forward as originally expected, creating the opening for a different film to be mounted with a new package.
In October 2025, Agnihotri was reported to be attached to Bahl’s Indian adaptation of La Famille Bélier, then described as a comedy drama adaptation, with the project still in the development phase.  Since then, the project has not been reported as going on floors, and the industry chatter has increasingly treated it as stalled rather than imminent.
That stalled runway is also relevant to Siddhant Chaturvedi’s side of the story. He has already worked with Bahl on Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, a romantic comedy that began filming in November 2024 and was announced for a theatrical release window, but has since lacked a stable, widely confirmed date.  The new musical, in effect, becomes the cleaner forward moving collaboration, while the earlier commitments sit in limbo.
Alizeh Agnihotri’s Recent and Upcoming Work
Alizeh Agnihotri made her theatrical debut with Farrey (2023), and her post debut trajectory has been closely watched because of how quickly follow up projects were expected to materialise.  Her major publicly discussed next step was Bahl’s adaptation of La Famille Bélier, reported in 2025 as a development stage film that would mark a significant leap in scale. 
With that remake now effectively stalled, the newly announced UK set musical becomes her most concrete forward facing lead pairing in the current cycle, and a potential repositioning from a delayed remake track to a more distinctive, scene driven commercial musical.
