Pushpa 2 has now been released in 3D as a bold move to compete with the new release Baby John, which hit cinemas today. The two films are set to dominate the holiday season, and the competition at the box office is already heating up.
Pushpa 2: The Rule, the much-anticipated sequel to Pushpa, has long been a box-office favourite. But with Baby John featuring Varun Dhawan in the lead, there’s a buzz that it could shift audience preferences. Early indications suggest that Baby John might be a hit, but Pushpa 2 still holds strong as a major contender this Christmas.
Pushpa 2 Debuts In 3D To Compete With Baby John
Starting today, Pushpa 2 has been made available in 3D & will offer a fresh experience for moviegoers who have already seen it in 2D. A source close to the production told Zoom that this 3D release is strategically aimed at pulling audiences away from Baby John and giving it ‘tough’ competition.
Kumar Abhishek (a manager at Complex Patna) shared his thoughts on the box office battle. “Early signs are that Baby John will be a hit, though we don’t know how big. But let me quickly add that Pushpa is still the No.1 choice for the audience. It’s showing no signs of slowing down. Now, with the 3D version out, the competition is going to be tough this long Christmas weekend between Pushpa and Baby John.”
The 3D version of Pushpa 2 isn’t just a gimmick. With its already stunning action sequences, especially Allu Arjun’s much-talked-about 20-minute Taandav, the 3D version enhances the experience, making it a must-watch for action fans and boosting its box office potential.
Pushpa 2 Or Baby John – Which Film Will Rule At The Christmas Box Office?
Both films feature heroes with strong moral compasses. In Pushpa, Allu Arjun plays an anti-hero who bends the law but follows his own sense of justice. In Baby John, Varun Dhawan’s character is a rogue cop who steps outside the law but holds to his own moral code. In fact, Dhawan’s character is shown committing murder while in uniform, which adds curiosity to his role.
Both characters appeal to mass audiences. They respect women and are portrayed as heroes, even if their actions sometimes break the law. This blend of moral complexity and mass appeal is what makes both films popular.
For the unversed, Baby John has received mixed reviews from critics. Some have praised the execution, Varun Dhawan’s performance, and Salman Khan’s cameo, as well as the film’s entertainment value. However, others felt it was not much different from Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri.
On the other hand, Pushpa 2 is benefiting not just from the 3D version but also from the publicity that Allu Arjun’s arrest brought to the film.
