Pushpa 2: The Rule isn’t just focusing on breaking box office records. After becoming the biggest opener in Indian cinema, the Allu Arjun-starrer aims for the global stage, with eyes set on the 2025 Oscars.
Mythri Movie Makers is planning an extensive marketing campaign in the United States, targeting both commercial success and a potential Oscar nomination.
Sources have revealed that the production banner is looking to submit Pushpa 2 for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.
Pushpa 2 Makers Eye Oscars 2025
This move takes inspiration from the success of RRR, which made waves at the 2023 Oscars. The team is planning an independent submission for consideration, hoping to secure a spot in the prestigious awards race without following the usual submission routes.
A trade insider shared with Mid-Day, “The team plans to launch a massive lobbying strategy in Hollywood, including exclusive screenings, press engagements, and influencer campaigns across major U.S. cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Boston. The goal is to create a buzz and capture the attention of critics and Academy members ahead of the Oscars.”
Allu Arjun Will Be Heading For A 10-City US Tour
Allu Arjun will lead the international push. A 10-city promotional tour is being planned, with the actor and the cast traveling to key U.S. cities to engage with both audiences and critics.
This global tour is also part of a broader strategy to strengthen Pushpa 2’s presence in international markets & pave the way for the third film in the franchise, Pushpa 3: The Rampage. The campaign’s goal is to expand the Pushpa franchise’s global reach, ensuring its success outside India.
While the push for the Oscars is one of the key focuses, the makers are also working to establish Pushpa 2 as a worldwide phenomenon. This ambitious campaign goes beyond awards, aiming to build the film’s international following and keep the franchise going strong.
About Pushpa 2: The Rule
Pushpa 2 continues the action-packed story of Pushpa Raj, played by Allu Arjun, as he rises through the red sandalwood smuggling trade. The film follows his pursuit of power, with the ever-present threat of SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil) looming over him.
The sequel builds on the success of the first film, delivering intense action, political drama, and personal conflicts. Pushpa’s complex relationship with his family, especially his wife Srivalli (Rashmika Mandanna), adds depth to the story, with the couple expecting a child.
