Alpha Box Office Collection Day 2: Alia Bhatt’s Spyverse Film Shows Jump Despite Mixed Reviews

Alpha may have opened below the usual YRF Spy Universe roar, but its second day brought a noticeable lift. The Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-led action thriller showed growth on Saturday, pushing its two-day India total past the ₹20 crore mark and giving the film a much-needed early weekend bounce despite mixed word of mouth.

Saturday Growth Pushes Alpha Past ₹20 Crore

Released on July 3, Alpha opened with ₹9.25 crore in India on day one, while its worldwide opening day figure stood at ₹17.42 crore. On July 4, the film added ₹11.25 crore domestically, taking its two-day India total to ₹20.50 crore.

The rise is significant for a film that entered theatres amid a visibly divided critical response. Some reactions have already branded it the “weakest film in the franchise”, making the Saturday growth an important indicator that the film is still drawing audiences over the weekend.

Among Alia Bhatt’s films as a lead, Alpha remains behind Gangubai Kathiawadi in terms of early collection, but it has moved ahead of Raazi and Jigra over a comparable start. Its performance is also unfolding in a crowded theatrical market, with holdover titles continuing to pull footfalls.

The Film’s Spyverse Position And Ott Plan

Alpha is the seventh film in Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe and marks the banner’s first female-led entry in the franchise. Directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, the Hindi action thriller stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.

The film follows a highly trained assassin raised in isolation as a super-soldier who discovers the truth about her family and stolen childhood. She then joins forces with her long-lost sister to take on the man who created her and his illicit military programme.

After its theatrical run, Alpha will stream on Netflix. The film released in Hindi on July 3.

Alia Bhatt’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Alia Bhatt’s recent screen run reflects a mix of star-driven commercial cinema and performance-led projects. In 2023, she starred in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Ranveer Singh, and also appeared in Netflix’s Heart of Stone, her Hollywood debut co-starring Gal Gadot. In 2024, she headlined Jigra, a theatrical release she also produced.

Now with Alpha in theatres, Bhatt has entered full-fledged franchise action at the centre of one of Hindi cinema’s most valuable universes. Her next confirmed film is Love & War, which is currently in production and is slated for 2027. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
