Shah Rukh Khan Rolled On The Floor Laughing, Farah Khan Recalls Murali Sharma’s Main Hoon Na Harness Mishap

More than 20 years after Main Hoon Na hit screens, Farah Khan has brought back one of the film’s funniest behind the scenes memories, and this one comes with Shah Rukh Khan “rolled on the floor laughing.” In the latest episode of her cooking vlog, the filmmaker visited Murali Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar at their Mumbai home, where an easygoing kitchen chat turned into a hilarious retelling of an action stunt that went completely off script during the 2004 blockbuster.

As the conversation returned to Murali Sharma’s role as Captain Khan in Main Hoon Na, the actor recalled the now unforgettable sequence with perfect comic timing. “I had to fly only till the first floor,” Murali Sharma recalled. Farah Khan then explained exactly why the stunt went sideways during the shoot.

The Main Hoon Na Mishap Farah Khan Still Laughs About

“At that time, the quality of harnesses wasn’t very good, and people didn’t really know how to use them properly. He just had to get out of the car while hanging onto the door. But Murali and the door both flew up,” she explained.

That visual, clearly, became an instant source of amusement on set. “That was my first time on a rope. When Shah Rukh sir came, he was shown the entire shot. He rolled on the floor laughing,” Murali shared.

Ashwini Kalsekar joined in with an observation that made the anecdote even better. “Even when you see that shot now, he has those real scared expressions.”

The laughter did not end there. Murali also remembered how his very first day on Main Hoon Na came with a public acting note from Farah Khan in front of a massive crew during a scene with Suniel Shetty. “On the mic, Farah says, ‘Murali, what are you doing, darling? What is this Maqbool kind of acting? Itna realistic mat kar (Don’t make it so realistic).’ In front of 250 people,” Murali shared.

The recollection offered a lively glimpse into the film’s atmosphere, one that mixed large scale commercial filmmaking with Farah Khan’s irreverent on set style. Released on April 30, 2004, Main Hoon Na marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao and Suniel Shetty. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Venus Movies, the masala entertainer followed an army major who goes undercover on a college campus while balancing a family reunion and a national mission. The film was a commercial success and went on to become one of the year’s major Hindi hits.
