Amidst the buzz surrounding the highly anticipated Gadar 3, Ameesha Patel, known for her role as Sakina in the franchise, has made a resolute statement.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, she firmly expressed her stance against playing a mother-in-law character in the upcoming instalment.
Ameesha Patel Won’t Play Mother-in-Law For Gadar Franchise Ever
While Ameesha Patel has embraced the role of a mother in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and its sequel, Gadar 2, she drew a line at playing a mother-in-law. She stated, “Never play a mother-in-law, ever, not for Gadar brand, not for any other hero, producer, director? Ever.”
Ameesha reflected on the conclusion of Gadar 2, hinting that her character’s storyline might not involve another romantic interest in the third instalment. She emphasised the significance of Tara and Sakina’s bond, suggesting that there might not be room for a new character. She said, “It will always be about Tara and Sakina. I don’t think there’s a place for another person to enter.”
Discussing her role decisions, Ameesha compared her risk-taking with the Gadar franchise. She highlighted how she defied industry advice to play a mother in Gadar due to her conviction in the script. Ameesha said, “Similarly, I played a mother again, only for Gadar 2, because it was Gadar and it was a carry forward, right?”
Actress CONFIRMS Humraaz 2 In On Cards
Regarding Humraaz 2, there have been talks of filmmakers Abbas-Mustan planning a sequel to the 2002 suspense-thriller. Confirming the sequel, Ameesha Patel revealed discussions with the directors. She stated, “Well, Humraaz 2 is on the cards, and it’ll definitely happen.”
As for the cast, while Ameesha seems to be on board for the sequel, Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna, who starred in the original, are yet to confirm their involvement. Bobby Deol, amidst the success of Animal, and Akshaye Khanna, have not commented on their participation in the sequel.
