The present crisis in Shilpa Shetty’s life, her entrepreneur husband Raj Kundra’s alleged involvement with adult content is being blamed by sources close to the new Priyadarshan comedy Hungama 2, which launched on Disney+ Hotstar on July 23.
Bollywood Hungama quoted a source close to the development, “It (the Kundra scandal) did affect the film’s performance. There was a campaign on social media to boycott the film. Disney+ Hotstar didn’t take it seriously. Or maybe they just ignored it in the hope that the film won’t get affected. But it did.”
According to sources, the arrest of Shilpa Shetty’s husband resulted in a 15% drop in viewership for Hungama 2. It’s odd that her return to acting after 14 years was supposed to be Hungama 2’s selling point.
Now, it appears that the team behind Ms Shetty Kundra’s second comeback movie, Nikamma, is fleeing for their lives.
According to sources, the film is finished. Sony Pictures was eager to see how Hungama 2 would be received. Nikamma’s release has been postponed indefinitely now that the verdict is out.
With the two Shilpa Shetty starrers, Meezan Jaffrey in Hungama 2 and Abhimanyu Dassani in Nikamma, two brilliant young actors were looking to make success in their respective careers.
