The Hindi film industry, which saw a drought at the beginning of the year with no significant releases, is now gearing up for a flurry of movies set to hit the big screen in the second half of the year. Among the recent changes in release dates, the much-anticipated Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham Again has now shifted its release date.
Originally slated for an Independence Day release, Singham Again will now hit theatres on Diwali. This alteration puts it in direct competition with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee. With this latest development, it seems that Bazmee’s directorial venture will face a box office clash with Rohit Shetty’s cop drama.

Reacting to the news, Bazmee expressed his concerns about the Diwali clash in an exclusive conversation with HT City. He remarked, “Abhi aapse news aayi hai. Clashes are never a good idea. We had announced our release date for BB3 a year in advance. I don’t know kya karein abhi.”
Commenting on the business implications of such clashes, the filmmaker added, “All films get affected when there is a clash, nuksaan toh hota hai. Aur baat product mein confidence ki nahi hai. Duniya ka har director, actor, writer hamesha apni film ke baare mein confidently baat karta hai.”

When questioned about the possibility of shifting Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3‘s release date, Bazmee stated, “Aisa abhi nahi socha hai since we had decided the release in advance. Ajay (Devgn) is a good friend and such date clashes are inevitable. Yeh hamare haath mein nahi hota.”
Reflecting on the trend of multiple clashes throughout the year, Bazmee, as a seasoned professional, shared his insights. “If the film is not good, then you can release it on any festival, it won’t work. A good film doesn’t need a date to work. Animal also didn’t come on a festival, that’s what I have seen over the years,” he concluded.
For the unversed Singham Again‘s August 15 slot has been taken by Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2. It will also clash with other films like Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa.
