After years of chatter around a follow-up to No Entry, filmmaker Anees Bazmee is quietly moving his next project toward a quick start. The film is tentatively titled Ram Aur Shyam and is designed around a classic double-role setup. Industry talk suggests three top stars are being considered for the lead: Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Kartik Aaryan. The story is said to modernize the twin-template for today’s audience while keeping the tone light, quick, and big-screen friendly.
Casting Depends On Busy Schedules
The decision may come down to dates. All three actors have packed calendars. Ranveer is slated to roll into Don 3 at the start of the year. Kartik has Naagzilla and ongoing promotions in his pipeline. Ranbir is focused on Love & War next, before shifting prep to a large-scale actioner. There’s also quiet buzz that Shahid Kapoor is on the director’s mind as an alternate if schedules align. If diaries clear, filming could kick off toward the end of February, keeping the momentum strong for a 2025–26 release window.
Not A Remake, A Reinterpretation
While the title sparks instant recall of Dilip Kumar’s 1967 classic, this new Ram Aur Shyam is not a straight remake. The aim is to reimagine the twin-identity comedy for a new generation. Expect sharper pacing, contemporary humor, and a clean, massy setup that lets the lead actor flex in two contrasting personas. Given Bazmee’s hit rate with broad entertainers, the template looks built for theatrical fun without leaning on nostalgia for its punchlines.
Why Kartik Is A Strong Contender
One clear advantage for Kartik Aaryan is his proven equation with Bazmee through the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. But the same advantage also brings the usual challenge: dates. With all three contenders juggling big tentpoles, the production’s “go” call will likely follow whoever can lock a contiguous, shoot-ready window first. Either way, the pick signals a star-fronted, family-friendly comedy set up for a wide release.
