Aneet Padda is gearing up for her next big screen move, and it is set in the ever expanding Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. After making waves with her musical romance Saiyaara, the actor is now preparing to step into Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming horror comedy, Shakti Shalini, which was teased at the end of Ayushmann Khurrana led supernatural romance Thamma (2025). With the project gaining momentum, the film’s first major production update is now in place.
Aneet Padda To Start Shooting In March
Aneet Padda will begin shooting for Shakti Shalini in March, with the team gearing up for what is being described as a long, packed first schedule. The film was earlier expected to go on floors in January, but the makers opted to extend the prep timeline.
“Aneet will begin shooting for the film in March. It’s going to be a marathon schedule. The film was earlier set to start rolling in January, but pre production needed more time,” an insider said in an official quote.
The March start is significant for the Maddock slate, given how Shakti Shalini is positioned as the next chapter after Thamma introduced the idea of the character through its climax tease.
Vishal Jethwa Opposite Aneet Padda?
One of the biggest casting conversations around Shakti Shalini is whether Vishal Jethwa has been paired opposite Aneet Padda. The makers have not confirmed the cast lineup yet, but the possibility has been doing the rounds within industry circles.
For Jethwa, the pairing would be a notable step in a genre driven franchise, while for Padda it could cement her as a new face in a mainstream cinematic universe that blends humour, horror, and rooted mythology.
Aditya Sarpotdar Set To Direct Shakti Shalini
On the directing front, Aditya Sarpotdar has been signed to helm Shakti Shalini. The filmmaker’s association with Maddock Films has strengthened in recent years, and he is also known for handling tonal shifts between horror beats and comedy.
“Aditya’s relationship with Maddock Films began with Munjya (2024). He has a flair for combining mythology, horror, and humour. Shakti Shalini is fleshed out slightly different from the other MHCU films. [It will have] far more drama,” the insider added.
What’s Next For Aneet Padda
Beyond Shakti Shalini, Aneet Padda also has a romantic drama with Yash Raj Films, directed by Maneesh Sharma. She has additionally lent her voice for Adi Shankar’s Devil May Cry 2, expanding her slate across formats and genres.
