Salman Khan’s Battle Of Galwan Release Date Postponed To Independence Day? Here’s Why April 17 May No Longer Happen

Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama Battle Of Galwan may not arrive in cinemas on its planned April 17 release date, as the film is still completing key portions of production and has additional formalities lined up before it can lock picture. The development comes as anticipation remains high around the project, which sees Salman step into the role of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu in a story inspired by the June 15, 2020 clash in Galwan Valley.

Battle Of Galwan Postponement Buzz Explained

According to reports, he makers are considering pushing Battle Of Galwan beyond April 17 because the shoot is not yet fully wrapped and reshoots are taking longer than expected. A one week schedule is set to begin from Monday, February 9 at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Mumbai, following which a few more days of shooting are still pending. The report states that the film is expected to wrap by the end of February.

The same report also notes that director Apoorva Lakhia will begin editing the reshot portions once filming is completed. With post production timelines tightening, the April 17 date is now said to be difficult to meet.

Ministry Of Defence Screening And Edit Timeline

A key additional factor is the mandatory process of showing Battle Of Galwan to the Ministry of Defence, which could take time and further impact the final release plan. A source said, “As per the rules, Battle Of Galwan needs to be shown to the Ministry of Defence and this process might also take time.”

The report adds that Salman is not in favour of rushing the film, given its scale and patriotic subject. In the same quote, the source said, “Salman Khan is clear that such a special, patriotic film needs to be nurtured well. He has told the team of the film that they should not rush through the process and take their time in ensuring that the final product looks appealing, compelling and cinematic.”

Will Salman Khan Still Stick To April 17?

While a postponement is being seriously considered, the final call is reportedly pending. quoted the source further: “Though Salman Khan and Apoorva Lakhia are seriously considering postponing the Battle Of Galwan, they are yet to take the final call. Salman bhai is unpredictable; he might still get the film out on April 17 despite the circumstances, but the chances seem remote. A clearer picture is expected to emerge in a few days from now.”

Apart from Salman, Battle Of Galwan also stars Chitrangda Singh and is based on a chapter from the 2022 book ‘India’s Most Fearless 3’ by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
